Can Pain In The Lower Back, Hip And Knee Be Cured Without Medication?

Hi, I was told by my orthopedic dr. I have a pinched nerve. I have pain in my lower back, pain in my hip and pain in my knee. He said to take ibuprofen as needed. The pain is not always in the same place, it moves around. sometimes in hip, sometimes in knee, etc. Is there any thing else i can do to get rid of the pain and stop using pain meds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
It all depends on the exact cause of pain If this is pinched nerve as your doctors said, then steroid and analgetic therapy may be all you need. and some time of course. However, i there is more serious compression of ischiadic nerve or spinal cord then it may be more difficult to treat and you need physical therapy and in severe cases surgical treatment. In every case, as long as you have pain, you should take ibuprfofen or adderal and apply warm compresses on painful area.
Wish you good health. Kindly regards
