Can Numbness And Tingling In The Face And Limbs Be Treated?

Hello, I was just released from the hospital after a blackout. I have severe MVP and so, even medicated, these are pretty frequent. My concern is that right after I came to, my face and limbs were numb and tingly . Its gone for the most part, but my right arm is still pretty near useless. Its difficult to move my fingers and it feels asleep . I landed on my left side when I went down and the hospital provided no answers.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern, and would like to explain that MPV is associated with increased potential of arrhythmic events (including supraventricular and ventricular), so the risk of a cerebral cardioembolic event (form a paroxismal atrial fibrillation) should be suspected, as you have suggestive neurological residual signs and syptoms.

I recommend you to continue treatment with antithrombotics (baby aspirin of 100 mg), and consult yuor neurologist for a comprehensive neurological status evaluation. Eventual head CT or MRI will be necessary to rule in/out a cerebral damage.

Hope to have been helpful! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
