Dear, Welcome to Healthcaremagic!
Insomnia is a very common problem. Dr Vidya suggested many useful tips for sound sleep. Also:
1) Avoid daytime sleep/rest
2) Keep yourself busy in day, & relax in evening
3) Use bed only for sex & sleep, donot watch TV while in bed
4) If possible, take a 10-min. walk after dinner, & a glass of milk before sleep.
For repeated palpitations, please consult a physician or cardiologist. Good luck.

General & Family Physician Dr. Vidya Muralidhar's  Response
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

Many people experience these symptoms very commonly, causes being anxiety, worry, sound horns at night, dreams, thyroid problems, etc.
If this happens once in a while, it is fine, avoid coffee/tea at least 6hrs before bed time, make sure you empty your bladder before bed, and try deep breathing before sleep for 5 mins.
If palpitations persist, get an evaluation for thyroid, related conditions from your Physician

Good day.
