I am a 41 year old female, and have no serious health problems. I broke my fifth metatarsal at the base 7 weeks ago and after 5 1/2 weeks in a cast the check xray showed the fractured ends of the bone were no longer aligned. The xray technician told me that the broken ends were sitting one end on top of the other ( I can feel the end of the upper part sticking out) He suggested I would need the bones realigned. But when I saw the ortho Dr he told me my foot was healing well and I was given a walking boot and could full weight bear, which I am tolerating. I would like to know whether the misaligned bone will cause me any problems in the future. My work involves me being on my feet all day and so I am concerned.
