Can Mild Central Thecal Sac Narrowing And Mild Subarticular Zone Effacement Bilaterally Be Treated?

i had a MRI and it says L4-L5: there is a moderate broad based central disc protrusion that effaces the ventral aspect of the thecal sac causing mild central thecal sac narrowing and mild subarticular zone effacement bilaterally. There is modertate faucet ligament flavum hypertrophy with patent neural foramina. what does that mean? my doctor is refering me to a neurosurgeon. Does this really require surgery? Am I doing damage by continuing to work? I am a housekeeper and it is very physical and the thing that causes me the most pain. I already did and continue to do physical thereapy since september

Hello,

Your MRI report shows protrusion of intervertebral disc. The protruded disc is causing compression of the thecal sac.

The neural foramina of the canals from where the spinal nerves leave are still intact.

You need to consult your neurosurgeon for clinical assessment and thus management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
