Can Mass In Lung With Satellite Nodules Indicate Lung Cancer In Elderly Woman?

86 yr old mother ...not biopsied...strongly suspected to have lung cancer. Detected by ct scan with contrast after suspected blood clot following hip surgery from a fall. Mass in left lung...satellite nodules in right lung. What is her probable prognosis since no confirmation of the specific type of cancer?

Your mother is most probably suffering from stage 4 lung cancer.
Injectable chemotherapy at this age is not an option.
From the biopsy sample EGFR and ALK muatation test can be done.
If these mutation is positive then oral chemotherapy erlotinib and crizotinib is an option.
The side effects mainly are rash and diarrhea.
The intent of treatment is improving basic quality of life and not cure.
