Can I Smoke During TB Treatment?

I am 20 years old i have tuberculosis due to Bilateral pleural effusion i used to smoke n drink i have finished 6 months of my medicine but due to effusion my lung still has water left in my left lung can i smoke or smoke weed i am suggested to continue my medicine three more months though

I can understand your concern.
No, smoking is strictly contraindicated in patients with tuberculosis.
Smoking is the risk factor for lung and pleural infection.
Smoking causes irritation and inflammation. These weaken lung defense system and make you vulnerable for infection.
The cause for your tubercular infection is mostly smoking. So better not to smoke because you are already having an infection.
If you continue smoking, healing rate will decrease and you may need longer duration. You may also develop drug resistant tuberculosis.
So better to quit smoking as soon as possible. It is not a good habit. It will only damage.
So avoid smoking.
