Can Hydrocele Re-occur After Resuming Physical Activities Post Surgery?

I had hydrocele repair 2 weeks ago. Unknown cause. Although still a little larger than normal, there is great improvement. I am 69 years old. I enjoy riding a bicycle for about 1 hour each day. I don't know if this caused the hydrocele. I would like to resume bike riding as soon as possible but will not if this may cause the hydrocele to return. What should I do ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Hydrocele is accumulation of fluid in the sac around testis in scrotum and the surgery is usually having a definite result unless there is hematoma formation or if there is a missed indirect variety of inguinal hernia not corrected at surgery.
Since you have undergone hydrocele surgery just 2 weeks ago, it is better to rest and let the healing occur as bicycle riding can cause hematoma formation, reactionary fluid collection or delay healing.
Hydrocele will not return if operated properly so need to worry about recurrence but yet it is better to take a precaution so that no complications occur and you go for cycling lifelong.
