Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husaband is 65 years old nad he told me that last night he experienced a sudden waive of dizziness, enough that he actually fell down. He has high blood pressure and on meds, but never diagnosed with anything else. He is currently working out of town and lives alone. I am very concerned. What could that be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Sudden rise of blood pressure can cause dizziness and rarely black outs. Other possibility is something called TIA (transient ischemic attack) where there is a transient block of blood circulation to the brain caused by clots or thrombus leads to dizziness and loss of consciousness. Consult a physician and check his blood pressure and make sure that it is well controlled. Also do an MRI scan to rule out other causes like TIA.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
