I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

A stroke means that an area of your brain has been irreparably damaged, so while the healthy brain may compensate somewhat for the damaged one, you must understand that some consequences may remain such as the difficulties walking, the forgetfulness etc. The best cure for that is physical activity there is no miracle drug unfortunately.
What you should focus on the other hand is on preventing another stroke from happening in the future as it would have even more dramatic consequences. So the causes for your first stroke must be identified and treated. High blood pressure can be such a cause so it must be treated. At times one or two drugs may not suffice and others have to be added, but one must not give up, there are so many options to treat high blood pressure nowadays, there is no excuse saying it can't be controlled. There are several classes such as diuretics (metoprolol, bisoprolol etc), ACE inhibitors (ramipril, lisinopril etc), calcium channel blockers (amlodipine, nicardipine etc), diuretics (indapamide, hidrochlorothiazide etc) and others more. So you should have regular visits with your primary physician, a cardiologist or a neurologist to check blood pressure and make necessary adjustments.

I hope to have been of help.
