Can Herpes Be Contracted Through Sexual Relation?
If a female contracted herpes from a male partner exclusive for 15 years that exhibited no know symptoms, how long before she contracted would he have contracted the disease? Would he have had to have immediate contact with original partner immediately prior to exposing exclusive partner or could the male have had for some time before exposing exclusive partner?

Thank you for query.Herpes simplex virus (HSV1 and 2) can spread by oral or kiss or by skin to skin contact or sexual route.The chances are more when there are active lesions.there are chances that you would have got it earlier in your life through any of these modes .They can present symptomatically as vesicles etc.Sometimes even asymptomatic individuals are also found and they have antibodies detected which indicate past infection.it usually manifests within 2 weeks of acquiring infection.You can get back to me for any clarifications with the photos and details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist
