Can Fibroids Cause Red-brown Discharge Along With An Ammoniacal Vaginal Odor In Postmenopausal Women?

Hi I saw on this site the answer to ammoniacal vaginal odor to be caused bu vaginal seniletis. I am 62 years old, I do experience the ammoniacal odor, but I also have a dark brown to red vaginal discharge. My gynecologist took a cervical biopsy and determined that I have no cancerous cells. I went to two (2) more gynecologist. While none can say why I have the red to dark brown discharge, one just said to go back after a year. I do have fibroids. Are the fibroids releasing these red to dark brown liquid discharge?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Mostly fibroid resolve after menopause. The vaginal discharge with ammonia odor is mostly due to urinary incontinence which accompanies menopause. The brown color of the discharge needs to be deeply examined, pathologically tested and diagnosed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
