Can Febrile Seizures Be Related To Shuddering?

My 3 year old son has had 2 febrile seizures the first lasted about 20-25 mins the last and 2nd one lasted almost 45 mins. Each time we went to the er and each time sent home with no answers the 2nd one we were sent to a children s hospital where they did nothing but blood work and sent us home. Also with the 2nd one he didn t even have a fever. Since we do what we can do keep him from getting ill. My question is.... he has now developed a studder. My oldest son who is 5 also had a studder but only when he was excited and he out grew it. My 3 yr old however is shuddering almost with every sentence. Could the febrile seizures and the shuddering be linked?

Hi,

First of all, you son should receive a drug to reduce his temperature such as paracetamol and if he has fits while his temperature is high, he should take diazepam to control fits (shuddering). Do not give diazepam if he does not get fits even if his temperature is high.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
