I am a 49 y/o, 6 2 , 210# male with degenerative disk disease. I have had 3 fusions in my c-spine and now have had lumbar pain radiating down the bottox and both legs, (predominately left), with marked weakness in the left leg. In January of this year I underwent a minidiskectomy of L4-L5 & L5-S1 (left side only) to minimize the protrusion discovered by MRI. I have had no pain relief of either side. We are now looking into Neuropathy and have been prescribed Neurontin which doesn t seem to be helping much if at all. At 31 years old, I was told I have a pelvic horseshoe kidney with a small mass attached. In hindsite, I was wondering if this could have any bearing on my current pain and if should be seeing someone other than my Spine Surgeon at this point. Could an enlarged kidney be putting pressure on the sciatic nerve, causing my pain. Could it be something else? I have noticed that my bad days usually run 3 to 4 days, the pain is so severe that my blood pressure goes way up and I experience very blurry eyesite (double vision at times). Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
