Can Drinking Fenugreek Tea Cause Preterm Labor During Pregnancy?

I am 14 weeks pregnant and drank one cup of herbal tea that contained fenugreek (I didn t know that it can cause contractions till I looked it up afterwards). How long does it take to get out of ones system? Do I need to be concerned about preterm labor from one cup?

Hi,

Though one cup may not cause such side effects, and if you experience any cramp like pain in pelvic area or spotting, you may consult your gynecologist and may need progesterone support orally. But at this moment drink more water and rest assured that nothing of that sort will happen. But you should avoid using any unusual product during pregnancy as these are neither trialed for safety during pregnancy nor FDA safety data is available so better to avoid than being sorry. Just use usual diet and adopt healthy life style during this period.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
