Can An Ultrasound Confirm Diastasis Recti After Child Birth?
My wife had an emergency c-section 15 months ago and our baby is 15 months old. There is a significant bulge around her stomach and she seems to be suffering from abdominal
separation (Diastasis recti). Her gynecologist was ok with the general health condition and suggested some exercises. We have even tried a physiotherapist.
Right now her health seems to be fine but she has some pain in her knees once in a while around the menstruation cycle time. But still there is a distinct visible bulge around the waist (around 6 inches more than normal).
1) Can an ultra sound scan confirm the diastasis? Are there any other tests to confirm the condition?
2) Are there any tests you recommend to make sure there are no other complications?
We have consulted another gynecologist related to this in Bangalore but they were not suggesting a surgery. But still if we want to consider surgical options if there is no
significant improvement in her condition.
3) a) Are there any surgical options availble for us in India specifically in Bangalore to correct the diastasis?
b) Can you please refer us a gynaecologist in Bangalore who has experience in this type of surgery.
c) Would expertise in this type of surgery be under gynecology department or cosmetic surgery department?
4) Are there any other treatments apart from exercise & surgery available to correct the diastasis/reduce the bulge?
