Can A Wasp Sting Cause Shingles?

I was stung by a wasp six weeks ago and had a severe and itchy rush for three weeks after that. This week I developed the same type of rush and was diagnosed with shingles, while I never had chicken pocks. Is there any possibility that the wasp sting caused the shingles?

Hello,

According to me, wasp bite usually does not lead to Shingles. Shingles is due to latent varicella zoster infection in nerves. The latent varicella zoster infection is from past chicken pox. Very rarely, people develop shingles without preexisting chicken pox.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
