Can A Swollen Gland Under The Tongue Be Caused Due To Sinus Infection?
hi I have a swollen gland ( under my chin in centre right under tongue notice dit a week ago (like a hard ball about the size of a BIG PEA/BEAN) i just recovered from a major flu and sinus infection for 3 weeks but this seems to be new - could it be form the infection?
As per the symptoms swollen gland under the chin just below tongue seems to be due to swollen lymph nodes.. A group of lymph nodes known as Submental lymph nodes are present in that area and it is appearing to be due to Submental Lymphadenitis.. Other cause can be infection or obstruction in the duct of submental salivary gland..
As you have recently recovered from flu, it is most probably due to Infection in the lymph nodes .
But a confirmation is always the best way to proceed towards the treatment..
In case of infection either in the lymph nodes or salivary gland there is nothing to worry as it take a few more days to resolve but will get better soon..
I would suggest you to consult a Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers for faster resolution.. Along with it do alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling..
Hope you will see improvement in next 3-4 days..
Wish you a good health..
Regards..
