Can A Low Blood Pressure Cause Memory Loss And Dizziness?
my 91 year old Uncle has recently been having trouble with memory. He had not been having these problems a month ago. He did see a doctor, and he said he had low blood pressure. We will be seeing a heart specialist Thursday. Can the low blood pressure cause the memory loss, dizziness and not feeling well feeling? He has been really healthy up until now.
His memory troubles could be related to low blood pressure, as it is well known that during low blood pressure, there is low blood perfusion to the brain. Coming to this point, I would recommend reducing his anti-hypertensive drugs doses (if he is actually taking such drugs) and increasing salt intake. It is also necessary to perform a complete blood count to check for anemia, which could trigger this situation. His age is certainly a risk factor for memory troubles too. Anyway, as he has been OK until now, you should consider low blood pressure as the main contributing factor to his actual complaints.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
