Can UTI Be Treated Without Intake Of Antibiotics?

Good evening, Doctor Rynne! I am a 64-yr old male who has never had a UTI, but apparently (per the urine sample w/traces of blood and WBC) have finally been blessed with it. The doctor prescribed a 10-day regimen of Cipro; after reading the many possible disastrous side-effects, I wonder if it is better to see if the UTI clears up without the antibiotic. The symptoms are decreasing since its noticed inception Thanksgiving eve. Thank you for your time!

hi.
thanks for posting query at HCM

UTI is very uncommon in male.
however, whenever its diagnosed , it should be treated properly.
so i recommend you to take cipro as advised by your treating physician and do NOT worry about side-effects. they are not observed in all patients and most of the side-effects are mild.
if rash is developed after taking medication, then visit treating physician.

wish you good n sound health
regards
