General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Nexium ( Esomeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor which is used for gastritis and associated problems. This is not a drug for blood pressure. Chest discomfort can be caused by gastritis that why your physician might have prescribed this. You blood pressure is high. So an anti hypertensive drug will be required to control it. I would suggest low dose metaprolol in this case if you were my patient. A review with your treating doctor or GP is well appreciated.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
