Can Lipitor Be Replaced With Aspirin?

My father is 81 yrs and has had a triple by-pass about 12 years ago...he is on Lipitor and Assasantin...he wants to come off Lipitor as he is very concerned about the side effects as he does get upper stomach aches...he wants me to replace the Lipitor with asprin...what is your recommendation?

Lipitor is a drug called atorvastatin which is used to lower cholesterol levels and given in various condition such as to reduce chance of stroke or MI(heart attack)...
Aspirin is a different group of drug with different mechanism of action.
You cannot substitute these two drugs as they are from different groups and have different action.I suggest you consult your local doctor and explain your problem,so that he can examine your dad and do what is required.
Changing these two drugs by yourself is strictly not recommended.
