Can I Get My Ultrasound Done At 8 Weeks Instead Of The Prescribed 7th Week Of Pregnancy?

Dear Doctor,

I am 7 weeks pregnant (first time) did sonography in week 5 (14th august'13)

taking medicines & HUCOG injections twice a week.

worried as this is my 1st time.

doctor has asked to do sonography after 14 days (i.e.7th week) but i am thinking to do it at 8 weeks

kindly confirm????

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

With confirmation of pregnancy viability and location at 7 weeks, a followup ultrasound 2 weeks later is appropriate. If there is no concern about miscarriage (bleeding, cramping, pain) then doing the scan every week is not necessary. I do not have enough of your history to say otherwise, and the plan your doctor has laid out sounds reasonable.
