Can HIV Infection Be Contracted If Having Multiple Sexual Partners?

I am a 34 year old woman and I have had a total of 7 sexual partners. I have not always been careful, however, I asked all my partners (1 which was my husband for a significant amount of time) about their sexual history and they all advised me that they had been tested for HIV and it was negative. I had recently applied for life insurance and one of the requirements is blood work and an HIV test and it is the first time I have ever thought of this. I am scared and I wanted to know what was the likelihood I contracted something....My question is whether there is a possibility that I have been infected? How long do the results take?

Hello there,
To answer your question, yes HIV infection can be contracted if having multiple sexual partners or even one sexual partner who is infected with HIV if protection is not used while intercourse, I clearly mean a condom. Now in your case although all your partners have told you verbally that they are negative you have no way to confirm it. The best way for you is to get this HIV testing for your life insurance and make sure that you are not infected. Depending on your last unprotected sexual encounter the result is non- confirmatory till 3 months from exposure. After 3 months the test is quite confirmatory in telling you your HIV status. The results come back the same day usually.
Henceforth please be careful and always use a condom to be safe.
Hope this helps.
Take care and all the best.
