Hello,
Thanks for you trust in HCM,
I am Dr Saleha I will look into your question and will help you as comprehensively as I can.
I have read your question and understand your concern
You heard it right,
HIV and
Hepatitis can well get transmitted through shaving blade cuts if the blades are contaminated. Though the percentage chances of transmission are low but they are not zero.
If you barber has a habit of changing shaving blades and water before shave of a different customer then the chances of transmission are negligible,
But if he continues to give shaves to multiple customers with same blade and one is infected then the infection can get transmitted to other customers through blade cuts.
I will suggest you to always ask you barber to change shaving water and blade before shave. It's always a recommendation by the doctors to try shaving at home instead of saloons. Because even if saloons change blade they rinse that blade over and over in same water in a container which can transmit infection.
If you have high suspicion of transmission I will suggest you to get tested for HIV and Hepatitis specially B, and C after three months if they come out to be negative then you don't have to worry.
I wish you the best of luck.
Regards.
Dr.Saleha
