Can Estratest Cause Weight Gain?

My doctor prescribed estrotest 1/2 tablet .625 mg for hot flashes and night sweats. I had a hysterectomy but still have my ovaries. I have worked hard with WEIGHT WATCHERS to drop over 15 pounds and don t want to gain it back. Will this prescription make me gain weight? I am very active. My doctor is the best so I can t imagine he steering me wrong.

Estratest is a combination of esterified oestrogen and methyltestosterone. I would expect some weight fluctuations in patients taking this combination rather than an overt weight gain. I would like to add that as oestrogen is made available to the body again, you might even loose weight because of the change in metabolism towards normal. Though the methyl testosterone can contribute to weight gain, the overall effect on weight cannot be easily predicted and can be neutral most of the times.
Hope my answer clarifies your concerns. Thanks.
