Can Dosulepin Be Restarted After Weaning Off For A While?

Hello, I ve been on Dosulepin for about ten years and am thinking of withdrawing from them. I feel I ve become much more stable and generally happier. I ve done a bit of reading on the subject and my question is: If I have a relapse as a result of withdrawal can I simply just start taking them again. I read somewhere that it may not work a second time?

Dosulepin is a tricyclic antidepressant and if you have done fine on this drug and all the depressive symptoms are resolved, then an attempt at dose tapering can be done.
Dosulepin dose has to be reduced over 2-3 months with close observation on any of the relapse of earlier symptoms. And for your next question on whether it will work next time; it will most probably work and you need not have to worry about that.
The tapering and stopping of the dosulepin has to be done under the guidance of the psychiatrist only with proper assessment of depression. Hope the above information helps.
