Can Benadryl And Xanax Be Taken Together?

Can Benedryl and Xanex be taken same day but at different intervals? Suffering from hives dues to stress, normally take sertaline for anxiety but also have xanex for times of high anxiety, which I m experiencing now due to the itching that will not go away. I have not taken the sertaline since Sunday night (normally take it at night) when the hives started, feeling great anxiety now.

It is not safe to take these medications together.

Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) is an antihistamine used to treat allergic conditions like hives, itching and for the symptomatic relief of symptoms of common cold is known to cause drowsiness, dry mouth, increased heart beat, constipation, blurring of the vision, etc as its side effects.

When taken along with Xanax it may increase side effects such as dizziness, excessive drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. It may also cause impairment in thinking, judgement, and motor coordination which may result in falls and injuries.

You may take Benadryl at bed time for the symptomatic relief of itching.
