Can Accutane Cause Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I took acutain in my youth to clear up acne. I am now middle aged and suffer greatly from rheumatoid arthritis. Does one have anything to do with the other? I have heard that law suits are pending. I am now homeless and have been unable to work for several years now.

I appreciate your concern for the role of Accutane in rheumatoid arthritis.

Accutane does not cause rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune (production of antibodies against own tissues) which results production of auto antibodies, immune complexes and inflammatory mediators which are responsible for causing not only the joint destruction but also involvement various other organs like heart, lungs, eyes and kidneys.
