Born With A Hole In The Heart. Difficulty In Breathing, High Resting Heart Rate. Feeling Tired. Suggestions?
Hi I was born with a hole in my heart but a few years later they told my mother it closed on its own. I am 21 now and I am having real hard time breathing and my resting heart rate is 100 to 126. I get tired really easy and I've never been able to work out or anything. Could the hole that was said to be closed have something to do with it?
Hi user Thanks for posting your query on healthcare magic You have given us very vague idea about hole in heart. It can be due to atrial septal defect (ASD - septum which separates atria) or ventricular septal defect (VSD -septum which ventricles). You have been told hole would be close on its own therefore most likely it was ASD. Both are can be easily diagnosed and can be differentiated by echocardiography and doppler study of heart. Your problem of resting heart rate may or may not be related to suspected heart problem. I suggest you visit doctor and at least get few investigation like ECG, Echo, thyroid function test Hope this will help you. take Care
hole in heart you are referring to can be ASD or VSD , many times they do close spontaneously. I suggest to repeat thorough 2D echocardiograophy to confirm it. If it had really closed then ,it will remain so and your symptoms are not related to it. High heart rate and breathing difficulty can have numerous causes and a thorough physical examination along with some investigatios are required.
