Blemishes On Cheeks, Expanding, Gets Dark In Summer. Cure?

Hi Doctor,
I am 29 yrs old, i have blemishes on my cheeks (both side on cheek bone). It appeared 3 yrs back as a small spot, it fades in winters ans get dark in summers but size remained same. But for past one month it is getting darker and now expending in size. Earlier it was not noticeable for others but now it is quite visible. I have not used ant remedy/medicine so far. Please advise how can i get rid of it. My skin tone is fair to wheatish and i have uneven(patchy) skin tone.

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic.
You seem to be having melasma. It is a pigmentary problem, quite common in adults. Sunlight , oral contraceptive pills and hormonal imbalance are factors which can worsen it.
You have to use a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or more and avoid direct exposure to sunlight as much as possible. Lightening creams containing hydroquinone, Kojic acid, Arbutin, liquorice extracts , etc help.
Chemical peels like Glycolic peels also help to lighten the patches.
Please consult your dermatologist to formulate a plan of treatment.
Hope this helped.
Wish you good health!
