Bleeding From Gums, Redness Around Incisor. Taking Eltroxin Medication. Treatment?

Hi! I ve recently begun bleeding from my gums. Initially, I figured it was just some minor gingivitis , but it appears to have spread and become worse. I have redness around my right incisor and a couple of teeth next to it. It is very sore. I ve recently stopped taking eltroxin since my supply ran out and I haven t been able to refill it yet. Should I be worried or just give a week and see how it develops?

You are hypothyroid and taking eltroxin don't stop taking Eltroxin as it needs to be taken continuously . You must keep stock of this drug. Bleeding gums could be local dental problem or some systemic problem related to platelets or other blood problem .Keep a good oral hygine and see a dentist /Periodontist. Also consult a Physician or Hematologist.

hi,
I read your problem, you did not give the complete history like,
1.since how many days you are taking this medicine?
2.when did you visit your dentist for scaling last time?etc
it may be because of other factors too like
1.age(>60)
2.poor oral hygiene
3.hormonal changes,etc.
so i will suggest you please visit to your dentist once and go for oral prophylaxis properly, and rule out the cause and take a proper treatment according to the cause.
nothing to get worried.
take care

hello and welcome to health care magic,
your gums are infected by the accumulation of food debris.
this condition is chronic generalised gingivitis.
you should undergo professional cleaning called scaling of teeth.
if condition is severe, root planning also must be done.take doxycycline tab.100mg for a week.this will help in shrinking of inflammed gingiva and it regains its original texture and contour.
use soft-bristled tooth brush and clean your teeth twice daily.while brushing, make sure that you are reaching all parts of teeth.take care.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

you are presently taking medication for hypothyroidism.you must not discontinue that without your physician`s advice.

The symptoms of localized gingivitis aggravates upon poor oral hygiene, and local calculus depositions.

Therefore please visit your dentist and get professional cleaning of teeth done.

Meanwhile do warm saline rinses.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM forum
Bleeding of gums, redness, soreness are all signs of gum disease.
Scaling and polishing is the treatment for gum diseases.
Take warm saline rinses daily.
Maintain oral hygiene and use Betakind mouthwash to reduce redness of gums.
Continue you eltroxin as it is not related to gum disease.
Consult dentist for treatment to be done and Take Flanil tablet twice a day for 3 days.
Take care

hi...
thanks for the query...
as you said your gums are red and sore so undoubtedly they are inflamed... and presence of local irritants like plaque and calculus is the most common cause...
just get your scaling and root planing done... maintain good oral hygiene afterwards by brushing twice daily after meals (use soft tooth brush)... also massage your gums using hexidine gel twice daily for a week... symptoms should subside afterwards...
donot stop your medicine...
if symptoms don't subside go for blood examination i.e. BT, CT and platelet counts...
take care...

Develop a habit of brushing twice daily with a soft bristle toothbrush.
Use multivitamin tablets.
Take complete balanced diet with lots of green vegetables, fruits, oranges and plenty of water.
Use antiseptic mouthwash rinses twice daily.

Hope this helps out.

hello
please dont stop your medicine eltroxin .your gums are not
affected because of it.this condition is called localised
periodontitis and can treated easily with scaling
and curretage procedure.it occurs because of food
acculumation and improper oral hygiene.
visit your dentist and you will be fine.
betadiene mouth rinse twice daily will be helpful.
