Bad Stomach, Coughing Up Blood. Chances Of Survival?
Hello My 79 year old nan has had a bad stomach for over 6months She was rushed into hospital last week and tests have been carried out but today so far they have found an ulcer. They also say its bleeding and in the last 3 days or so she's had a few blood transfusions. She's also been coughing up blood. I was wandering what are her chances of survival? I know each person can be different and I know there are more tests to come back. I just want us to prepare for the possibilities. Her symptoms are linked to bowel cancer too as she has been constipated for a while too. Thanks for your help I appreciate you medical view and honesty.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. The matter is viewed seriously until the bleeding stops. If it is not a malignant ulcer and if the bleeding stops then there is no problem for survival immediately. As he is also having colonic cancer as per your history and advaced age naturally compromise the survival. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
