Baby Passing Yellow, Sticky Stools Once In 3 Days. Was`passing Green Stools Previously. Suggestions?

Hi, my daughter is 5 and half month. She is on exclusive breastfeeding . Her frequency of passing stool is not regular, she passes stool once in 2-3 days only, usually yellow, sticky semi solid. Last 2 weeks she is passing green stools . There is no other symptoms of infection, no fever . She is active as usual. She is also a very poor eater, doesn t take feed more than 5 mins at a time. Is it normal or is there any serious infection or any other concern?

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Breast fed babies sometimes pass motions in 2 to 3 days..yellow to green color is also normal.
Most important thing is her activity,if she is gaining adequate weight, passing urine normally.stools are soft there is nothing to worry.
In case stools passed are hared you can add pinch of sugar in expressed breast milk 2 to 3 spoons and give it 2 to 3 times a day.

Wishing your baby good health.
God bless.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

You should not worry about that particularly if the baby is breast fed.
Congratulations for exclusive breast feeding your baby.
Breast fed babies may pass stool once in 3 to 4 days.
Some times they may pass stool 7 times in a single day.
Both are normal if the baby is otherwise active and playful.

Continue to ask further queries.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

You should not worry about the stools. They are normal and do change colour once in a while. Green stools should not make you think that your daughter has an infection. Continue breast feeding with the normal supplementary diet. However ensure that hygiene is maintained while feeding your daughter.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter all the best.

Regards,

RKK
