Are There Any Side Effects Of Taking Medrol For Thyroiditis?

I have had for the past two months, pain in my throat/neck, feeling of something stuck in my throat, pain in neck that radiates to ear, tingling in my jaw. The pain is severe, and I've been hospitalized three times. The pain becomes worse at night. I have the most relief when I awake. They found some hurthle cell in thyroid nodule (small 2cm) and oncologist said no way this is causing pain even if cancer. Recently I was diagnosed with thyroiditis. I am taking Medrol, and I'm on my second day, and of course the pain is really bad, my neck and throat seem to stiffen up and jaw goes numb, and I have belching that comes along with it. I do have reflux and take omeprazole for it, and have done all gastro tests and gastroenterologist basically saying not his problem. Do you agree that this could be thyroiditis or can this be something else?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Brief answer:
It could be thyroiditis

Detailed answer:

This could be due to thyroiditis. A radiologist can tell from ultrasound whether you are having thyroiditis. Other blood tests like ESR, anti thyroid antibodies, thyroid uptake scan will help.

Treatment of severe thyroiditis is steroids and anti inflammatory medications. Short term steroids are usually well tolerated and without much side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help

With warm regards,
