Are There An Alternate For Ambien To Treat Insomnia?

I had an incident (after taking ambien 5mg) of packing a grocery bag with various items from the bathroom and refrigerator and finding it on the kitchen table in the morning. I have used ambien once or twice a week for 2-3 yrs with no problems. FREAKED ME OUT! What s next? should I drop ambien forever? Can you suggest a safer sleep aide? (Benadryl occasionally gives me vivid unpleasant dreams.) I am 71 yrs old.

HI
Well come to HCM
If you are not having nice sleep or sound sleep then this could be due to anxiety and depression, stress condition, and you are the person who might be knowing what is wrong, if need to come out of this condition then you have to come out of this conditions, then and then you will be having sound sleep, thinking about the sedative is not the option, try some exercise, yoga, meditation, self counseling relaxation therapy, try some hot milk prior to sleep, hope this information helps, take care.
