Are Smoking And Using Patches Harmful During Pregnancy?

I recently found out I am pregnant. I am 37 years of age, doing a masters in college, so stress, and this is my first pregnancy. My partner is not too happy but we are coming to terms with it. However I am a smoker, i smoke roll ups.... through habit I think they help me when I know they dont..... what harm am I doing, and is it safe to use patches.....

Yes,smoking has harmful effects on fetus
like preterm labour or low birth weight baby and other complications as well.
Regarding patches
Pregnancy is good time to quit smoking
but patches are not good option
Gums and sprays are considered as better option instead of nicotine patches.
But still you should consult your doctor before starting this replacement therapy.
I would advise you to:
- Use 16hours theray instead of 24hours patch because 16hour patch is as effective as 24 hours.( You can use nicotine patch if you are too much nauseated)
