Are Sharp Pain In The Leg And Numbness In The Foot Related?

I woke up Saturday morning and my left foot was asleep. It didn t go away. It is still numb on the top. I have a shooting pain going up my left leg when I walk and now my back is hot and I have a sharp pain on the right side. Could all of this be related? Should I seek medical attention?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sharp shooting pain while walking and numbness needs further evaluation. Compressive neuropathy should be ruled out here. For that neurological examination and x-ray, the spine can be taken.

If nerve compression pain confirmed, then pregabalin and suitable medication can be prescribed for that. Physiotherapy is also beneficial. If needed further evaluation after examination then MRI spine can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
