Are Runny Nose, Sneezing And Chills Symptoms Of Walking Pneumonia?

I am 70 years old, male and 30 pounds overweight. I have a runny nose, sneeze in the morning, and a cough. I get chills and aches- slight- and get cold easily. Initially, I had a sore throat but that dissipated. I ve had these symptoms for several weeks. I had them previously this fall and was prescribed anti biotics and got better - for a while, but now they are back. I sleep with a CPAP machine (which I do clean & replace hoses). Could this be walking pneumonia.

If the cough is severe or wet or persistent then yes, with a history of the fever and chills, it is possible that it is bacterial pneumonia and you may need a course of antibiotics.

If the cough is mild then it may indicate that the infection is confined to the upper respiratory tract (it is the cold).

Treatment would consist of: (1)antibiotics -- if thought to be bacterial infection
(2)rest, fluids
(3)paracetamol or ibuprofen for the fever
(4)anti histamine/decongestant combination for the runny nose, sneezing, would also help the cough by reducing the drip of mucus to the back of the throat
(5)cough suppressant
