Are prolonged menstrual cycles a matter of concern?

I am a 45 year old woman with no children. I am not on the pill or any other medications. I eat well and go to the gym 2 times a week. I have noticed my periods have slowed over the last year. it is currently about 6 months between periods. Is this something I should be worried about?

Now you need not worry about it, it is the natural physiological activity. Women in the age group between (45-55 years) may experience prolonged periods or heavy periods due to hormonal imbalances as they are already in transition phase leading to menopause. You may experience hot flushes, palpitations, tiredness, vaginal dryness, anxiety, depression, forgetfulness, etc.

Symptoms vary in different patients, some may have mild symptoms, others may be required to get treated due to risk of developing cardiac disease, osteoporosis, anxiety or severe depression. Consult with a PCP, get regular check up done so that coping with menopausal symptoms may get easier. You may require medication, special diet chart, change to healthy lifestyle.

My menstrual cycle started on the 2nd of October and although it has slowed down and is light right now, it is still present on the 20th day of the month. This happened to me about two years ago. I had it checked, did a biopsy and everything was fine but I am becoming concerned. I do have fibroids.

My friend has about a 3-week menstrual cycle. I don t know if that could be a problem. She is 23-yo, Muslim, and has never seen a gynecologist. She is a virgin. How imperative is it that she be examined. She seems largely uninformed about sexual and sexual health matters.

Why has my menstrual cycle picking up and not stopping. Ongoing daily bleeding with clits tonight has occurred. I had surgery to remove a small fibroid (about the size of a marble) in September 2015. I will be 56 next month. What s going on? Why am I not finished with my mom cycle and menopause? What should I do concerning stopping this ongoing blowing cycle?
