Are Lower Abdominal Pain And Frequent Urination Signs Of UTI?

My potassium has been 5.8 to 6 for the past month. My primary prescribed antibiotics for what I thought was a possible UTI, but urine came back okay. Due to the discomfort I was having in my lower abdominal area (from left side to right) and frequent trips to the bathroom but without burning but having a good urine flow she prescribed them. The medicine may have helped a little but discomfort still present. My back hurts along my waist line. Pain pills do help. What s going on?

Hi,

Since you have mentioned that the urine report has come back as normal this may not be a primary case of UTI.
There can be a secondary reason like a problem with intestines, lymph nodes, other pelvic structure that cause pain in the lower abdomen as well as frequent urination.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a General Surgeon for proper clinical examination.
CT scan of the abdomen can help to find the cause.
Tests of stool and blood.
All these will help to get an appropriate diagnosis and hence help to get proper management to get the cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
