Are Fluttering Feeling In Chest And Excessive Belching Signs Of GERD?

I believe I have GERD and lately have been having fluttering in my chest. It doesn t feel like a heart issue because there is no pain or weakness of any kind. Just annoying fluttering. And a lot of belching. It seems to worsen at night and when my stomach is empty. I would prefer to treat it naturally. I have been drinking apple cider vinegar in water with lemon and using lemon when I drink water. And trying to avoid carbs. Is the fluttering in my chest a symptom of GERD? What is the best remedy, preferably natural?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you explain may be due to GERD. On the other hand, taking vinegar and lemon may make it worse because they are very acid. I would recommend you to eat a frequent small amount of food so that the reflux is reduced. You may also lift the bed head with bricks so you do not lay horizontal when you sleep, thus reduce reflux.
Avoiding coffee, smoking, and alcohol is important as well, and avoiding fried food is important.
Weight loss also reduces acid reflux.

If you do not get better with these, it is advisable to see a doctor and consider medications.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
