Are Exhaustion And Sleeping Difficulty Side Effects Of Concussion?

Hi. I was wondering what the side effects or what to look out for after a concussion - that happened 2 weekends ago. We never gotten any paperwork or instructions on the after care. I m concerned because all last week my fiancé has been taking it easy but this week seems to be exhausted n sleeps some days than others. He also has issues falling asleep. Is any of this related to the concussion? It was a hard fall on the back top left of head. He didn t cut it open its more like a concrete scratch.

Hi,

Following head injury, concussion can present as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, visual blurring and ringing in the ears. Sleep disturbances, mood changes and cognitive function disturbances like disorientation and loss of memory. You have mentioned exhaustion and sleep disturbance, which can definitely be caused by concussion.

I would suggest you to visit your doctor and repeat a CT / MRI scan in order to assess your brain function. In case of any nasal or ear bleeding, convulsions, you immediate visit the ER for emergency management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
