Are Dizziness, Vertigo And Light-headedness Signs Of Pinched Nerve?

hello I have a few questions actually I may have a pinched nerve in my neck, ive seen 2 different doctors. one said it may be an inner ear problem and another said it may be a pinched nerve. I do have an old neck injury, about 8 years old and have been noticing a lot of dizziness, vertigo and feeling very light headed, especially when I m sick. just tonight I also noticed my eyes seem puffy and my throat feels a little bit tight. bear in mind I do have a virus at the moment. I am not sure what is going on, what my symptoms could mean. I am on medication for dizziness but it doesn t really help. I had an xray of my neck, waiting on results and a requisition for a CT scan has been put in

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of a neck injury. Presently you have viral infection. Get throat swab & sputum examination done.

Get treated, you need a course of antibiotics & analgesics. In the meantime do warm saline gargle 2-3 times a day.

A pinched nerve can be relieved by taking adequate sleep & maintaining the right posture while sitting or sleeping. Massage & physical therapy is equally effective.

Since you are having dizziness, avoid driving. Get physically examined by an ENT, to rule out the wax in your ears & inner ear issues. If its wax you will need an ear wash by the specialist.

Get the audiometry test done. If dizziness is due to pathology in the inner ear, you need medicines (vertin) & rest for a couple of days.

Avoid addictions of any type. Stay away from nicotine, caffeine or alcohol. Maintain your blood sugar & blood pressure levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
