Hello and welcome to HCM,
The MRI report suggests that there is involvement of your cervical spine at the level of C5-C5 and C6-C7.
The intervertebral discs between C6-C7 vertebrae has prolapsed.
Prolapse refers to displacement of the disc.
The prolapsed disc can impinge upon the spinal nerves...

I have a neck injury and have been put on Valium as a muscle relaxer and flexral and hydrocodone as needed. I've taken the last two for a while. When I was put on valium I feel awful. I went back to my physician and he said I needed to stay on it tho he lowered the dosage to 2mg 3 X day from 5mg. I still feel awful. Moody, sad etc. any suggestions

doctor1 MD

Hi, as you describe you are having moody state, sad, and awfull.
Actually diazepam is used for the control of these things, but rarely one may get such side effects, as you are feeling unbearable with them , you try to explain your doctor about them.
There are so many muscle relaxants , so you...

My wife has a previous neck injury, incurred in an auto accident, and now, at age 54, and post-menopausal, she has recurring and movement-dependent searing upper back pain and bouts of what she describes as severe itching, unrelieved by anti- histamine lotions, cortisone lotions etc. I am assuming this is all related to some degree of cervical spine degeneration, stenosis , etc. and have told her that she needs to have her neck X-rayed, or an MRI, but she is adverse to health care. Also, she is a migraineur and I wonder if the two are in someway related. What would you recommend?

doctor1 MD

Post-traumatic muscle ache is common and sometimes it is quite annoying. Regular stretching and exercise of the muscle help in preventing further episodes. I would definitely advise C-spine xary / may be MRI to rule any significant spinal problem. Thanks.

I was recently in a rear end collision while sitting at a red light. I received neck and back injuries along with pain in my left shoulder where the seatbelt was. Since then I have noticed my breast looks allot different. Is it possible my implant has ruptured?

doctor1 MD

Although..i am not a surgeon. But what you say looks yes its possible and that for confirmation you should get 1 mri done.

Hi,
I was in an accident 2 days ago and felt fine other than neck injuries and a leg injury. This morning I woke up with terrible acid reflex which I have never experienced before and diarrhea. I'm more interested in finding an explanation to why I might feel like this rather than treatment.

doctor1 MD

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if you had a stressful condition after the accident then chances of increasing the acid secretion would be likely and that might be responsible for acid reflux disease or if you have taken some medicine that could induce the gastritis...

Hi I have been suffering for many years with a chronic pain due to a neck injury I attended a pain clinic which made it clear that talking about the pain was a no no .I have many more symptoms now that I have been embarrassed about. It appears I may have Fibromyalgia which so matches all my symptoms I have become used to having a couple of wines at night to help relax and using it as a pain relief .Now I am on cymbalta only 5 days my dr is really full on about no alcohol at all ? is she over reacting ?

doctor1 MD

There are two reasons why your doctor is not allowing you for alcohol. First alcohol in form is harmful overall to the body in many aspects when it is not taken with strict control and understanding. So for any patient even I would like to tell no to alcohol.
Second reason is that you are taking...

I have been taking 8 panadeine forte and valium 5mg a day for over 20years due to a severe neck injury and I want to stop taking them as I feel I am dependant on them. I have tried cold turkey but keep relapsing. I have also tried halving the valium but haven't lasted.
So now I am wondering if I try shaving of a bit of the tablets and step that down to less and less over time whether that will work. I want to try something so I thought I'd try this. What do others think about this method. Has anyone else tried this?

doctor1 MD

Hi, what you are thinking is a tapering of the dose of the medicine, instead of making pieces, there will be tablets of half the dose and quarter the dose, and then you can make pieces.
I to my patient with such pain prescribe neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days and pragabolin for 30...

Hi, I am 28 years old with 3 kids and have worked for 12 years along with high extra activities. I was semi-diagnosed with tachycardia, but not sure how accurate it is. I have on and off chest pains whether or not I m eating or doing anything specific. My doctor told me to ignore the chest pains. And also I am having a tingling sensation in my shoukder that happens with movement. I did have a previous spinal contusion from a fall on skates and a neck injury from whip lash that resulted in a pinched nerve in my neck. I don t know what step I should take to make sure I am properly diagnosed. Please help me
