Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Dizziness And Tightness In Head Signs Of Peripheral Neuropathy?
My husband has peripheral neuropathy for the past several years and has been having strange symptoms--slight dizziness, a feeling of tightness in his head as though it might explode. When it gets this way he is completely discombobulated. Is this a normal progression of the neuropathy, or does the disease even affect the brain? Thanks, Pat
Peripheral neuroapathy can cause dizziness. Headaches are also common with patients diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.
However, the disease should doesn't affect the central nervous system per se. I recommend you do a follow-up with the treating neurologist. He might order some tests like vit b12, and ask for a brain MRI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal
