Any Home Remedy To Reduce Swelling In Legs, Ankles And Feet?

hi, my mom is 61 and is experiencing swollen legs, ankles, and feet to the point that for 4 days water ran like a faucet out of a hair pore on her lower shin then suddenly stopped all the while she has a hard lower abdomen muscle and a wrenched lumbar. she s also been not experiencing normal quantity or frequency of defecation and until yesterday had the same issues with urination. she eats well, exercises and is in perfect health other than the bizarre collection of eclectic symptoms i have just described. what is going on and what can we do to make her better? and yes, we are 2 of the 43,000,000 americans without insurance and cannot afford the ER, unless there is traumatic bleeding/broken injury. is there some sort of home to-do thing that we can try?

Hello,

As she has edema of the lower limbs I would like to know if it is pitting or nonpitting edema. As she has water oozing out of the skin it might be general edema for now.

The urine output has reduced and a diuretic drug has to be advised. Since diuretic drug helps for symptomatic relief by excreting more water from the body it cannot be used for a longer term due to potential damage to the kidneys.

Water intake and output have to be monitored to avoid excessive accumulation of the water. If the input and output of the water are monitored than mostly the swelling symptoms can be reduced.

Having issues with the lumbar spine she needs to do exercise at home like core stability, lumbar spinal muscle strengthening exercises, lower limb strengthening as well. You can check the sources of exercises online too.

As she is 61, it has to be low-intensity exercise and a plan to make things work out for her in a most disciplined way.

In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most geriatric cases above 60 are considered to follow a planned rehabilitation program which includes the physician, physiotherapist, and diet.

They recover well. In your case, you want home remedy so have mentioned above the whole program for her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
