General & Family Physician Dr. Shoaib Khan's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

From the description provided, it sounds like you could be suffering from a urinary tract infection (UTI). For your reference I shall list some of the symptoms out for you, they are:
-Burning sensation while urinating
-Frequent urination
-Increased urge to urinate, but less amount of urine passed
-Chills
-Fever
-Lower abdominal and/or flank region pain
-Itching around the genitals
-Blood in urine or immediately after (not always seen)

Although, it is not necessary for all the symptoms to be present, different individuals have different presentations.

I would advise a visit to the doctor to get your urine analysed in the laboratory which would help your doctor in confirming/ruling out an infection. If the urine examination does not suffice, then a vaginal swab test can also be conducted, which can also be followed up by a screening of sexually transmitted infections, as you have mentioned a sexually active status.

Once the infection has been confirmed, treatment will include antibiotic coverage, pain management medication and a urine alkalizer.

In the meantime, I would request you to abstain from all forms of sexual contact, as this could be a simple UTI which could get aggravated by sexual contact or a sexually transmitted infection, which you could transmit to your partner as well.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
