After Having EIA HIV Doubtful And IFA Test Negative, What Are The Chances Of These Test Being Positive Months Later?
Hi Dr.Saknkel N. Gmmf.
I and my wife did EIA HIV test 3 month after I had risky situation. The test come back negative for me and _doubtful_ for my wife. Wife also did IFA test and it was negative.
Do we need to repeat test 6 month after risky situation? What are the chances our test become positive?
EIA test for HIV after 3 months of high risk activity is almost a conclusive one. In very rare situations like one is on some immunosuppressive treatment with steroids, anti cancer drugs the test may likely to take more time to manifest. When your wife's result is doubtful one it is better to repeat the test after another one month in some other lab to confirm that both of are HIV negative. DR S.Murugan
