Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have epilepsy and am on medication. I take a morning and an evening dose. I have currently finished my tablets and am waiting for them to arrive as repeat prescription which will be tomorrow. As I am unable to have my morning dose, do I just carry on with the evening dose as normal?
Seizures are involuntary muscular twitch due to some neuronal disturbances. This is classified as nocturnal seizures which occurs commonly in night and diurnal seizures which occurs in the daytime. Seizures most commonly seen during non alert, drowsy state.
Depends on the onset of seizures, the dosage of medications are altered. If the occurrence of seizures are more during early morning, night dose is increased. Similarly, the morning, supper and evening doses are planned. Missing single dose may or may not cause symptoms. So, make necessary plans about the availability of medicines. Discuss with your doctor about the dosage and schedule. Anti-epileptics are the drugs that are prescribed for seizure disorder.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
